About Huehuetenango

This coffee is sourced from the Huehuetenango region of Guatemala and offers a full round cup of pronounced dark chocolate and cocoa, comlimented by notes of Pecan, Orange and a slight hint of Vanilla. Roasted to a medium level, this goes great with filter, but will also act fine in an espresso. The beans are a mix of the Bourbon, Typica and Caturra varieties.

Recommended Brewing Method

We recommend this coffee for all brews, but particularly filter coffees.

Story

The Huehuetenango region is situated in northwestern Guatemala on the border of Mexican Chiapas and is known for producing great coffees, this organic coffee is no exception. Grown at around 1600-1700 masl, the combination of cool mountain air and the hot winds from the Tehuantepec offers a great environment for growing and producing coffee. The production started as early as the 19th century and remains the main source of export in the region.

While the taste is somewhat reminiscent of it's Mexican neighbour, there is a notable difference in Guatemalas more floral notes and acidic touch. If you tried our coffee trom San Marcos, maybe you'd find it interesting to note that this coffee is somewhat in between the flavours of San Marcos and our coffee from Mexico's Chiapas.
